Careers

Vacancy: Website Developer

Escrivo is looking for an enthusiastic website designer and front-end engineer, with a keen interest in SEO, conversion and analytics to join our growing Internet Consulting business.

  • You must be able to identify, plan and implement key initiatives to increase traffic and conversion rates. You will have experience of measuring, monitoring and interpreting website analytics (from Google Analytics, Google Website Optimiser or similar tools) and using this information as the basis for taking action.
  • You will need to have knowledge of current SEO tools and techniques, and be able to demonstrate how they have used these to improve rankings and inbound traffic for clients.
  • You must also demonstrate an ability to develop attractive and usable user interfaces, either from scratch or as enhancements to existing websites. You will be someone who pays attention to technical details too, to ensure that pages are semantically rich and syntactically correct, meeting the appropriate coding standards.

If you can demonstrate that you’ve got a passion for applying these skills, then this could be the job for you.

You will be working directly with our clients, and assisting our web application development team. You will be working as part of a small team working with a wide ranging client base, therefore flexibility, strong communications skills and attention to detail are essential.

You must be able to demonstrate that you have good analytical skills and a working knowledge of the concepts, tools and techniques applicable to SEO, site optimisation, usability and website development generally. You will be working primarily with website front-ends, and it is essential that you have a strong understanding of relevant technologies, particularly XHTML/HTML and CSS, Javascript and AJAX, and how these impact upon issues such as accessibility, site optimisation, and cross-browser compatibility.

The ideal candidate should have 1-2 years experience, and should of course have a strong understanding of the internet and websites. You will be keen to work in the initial development phases of websites and also on the ongoing management of existing websites, applying your skills to a wide range of situations in support of our clients' requirements.

This role represents an excellent opportunity for anyone keen to develop their experience of website optimisation and website development. You will be based in our office in central Edinburgh, and remuneration will be based on the level of skills which you can demonstrate.

If you are interested in applying for this role please please contact Amanda Hebblethwaite by email at enquiries@escrivo.com with your CV and portfolio or examples of your work (as appropriate). It would be helpful if you could also indicate your current salary. No agency enquiries please.
