ECommerce Solutions

Customisations & Bespoke eCommerce solutions

Just as every business is unique, every eCommerce solution is unique - and it's very rare for an eCommerce project to avoid the need for some bespoke development or shopping cart customisation work.

Customisations & Bespoke eCommerce solutions

On our projects we've seen a wide variety of client requirements which have needed custom development work.

Typical shopping cart customisations have included things like:

  • additional fields for data capture in the order - e.g. to allow customer-selected delivery date
  • alterations to shipping cost calculations - e.g. "Saturday surcharge"
  • inserting additional up-sell/cross-sell opportunities
  • adding postcode lookup facilities to improve address data accuracy
  • integration with CRM tools and back-office stock management

We've also had to build specific payment gateway integrations for some shopping cart solutions.

Bespoke eCommerce development

Some requirements are very business-specific and require bespoke development.  Examples of the bespoke eCommerce solutions we have built include:

  • An online system for building highly-personalised PDF documents on a pay-per-document and subscription basis
  • A back-office customer management system including facilities for processing monthly direct-debit subscription charges
  • Integration of Chip & Pin payment terminals with a back-office stock control and customer management solution.

We approach bespoke eCommerce requirements in the same way that we would approach a web application development project.
